Q & A | Telehealth Therapy Services

What is Telehealth Therapy?

Telehealth therapy allows you and your behavioral health provider to have real-time, two-way communication via an online virtual “appointment.” Using Telehealth means you can receive care at a time and place convenient for you. For therapy sessions, I use a service called SimplePractice, which is fully HIPPA compliant for telehealth services and client management, so you can rest assured that all interactions are confidential. SimplePractice offers a web-based platform that surpasses industry encryption standards to provide a secure, private online appointment. Telehealth therapy replicates a face-to-face office visit with real-time video conferencing. SimplePractice also offers e-mail communication and scheduling capabilities, in addition to accepting payments through the site, all of which are conducted securely to ensure privacy and protection.

Is special equipment requireD to use telehealth?

No. All you need is a computer with webcam and high-speed internet access.

Does telehealth cost more than an office visit?

No. Typically, all you pay is your normal mental health provider fee or copay for your appointment, just as you would with an in-office visit.

How Do I get started?

Get started in just four (4) easy steps!

1. Go to https://ericka-bohnel.clientsecure.me.

2. Send me a message via the secure portal

3. Complete an initial intake form

4. Schedule an intake-assessment (50 minutes), where we discuss your mental health concerns, what you hope to address in therapy, and determine if I am a good fit for you.

How do online sessions work?

An online session works like an in-office appointment. During the initial intake session (50 minutes), we will discuss your personal history as well as your concerns for seeking therapy. Understanding your story and background is important context for providing a treatment plan and working towards specific goals in order to better your life and relationships with others.

Future sessions are 50 minutes each, where my approach is to work together with the client in order to guide them toward varied goals and successes in our sessions.
